Our Client

Visions Group is a South African company with global presence, specialising in HR and IT consulting and IT system implementation. Facing tight deadlines across different time zones and managing high-stakes projects, Tracy Lemon, the group CEO, sought a team building session that would not only be fun but also provide a complete break from work-related concerns.

Our Delivery

Tracy opted for the Knife Skills Bootcamp class, humorously stating, "everybody must focus 100% to return home with all 10 fingers 😎." I was worried because it's an intense class and no company has chosen knife skills class for team building before. However, Tracy was confident in her choice.

We also prepared Global nigiri knives, each engraved with a member's name. This personalized touch enhanced the learning experience while serving as a memorable souvenir. The gifts were individually gift-wrapped.

On the day, the session commenced at 8:30 a.m., starting with a welcome drink. Tracy delivered an opening speech and exchanged a knife with a 1 Rand coin to ward off bad luck associated with new knives. The day included a brief theory session, followed by three hours of cutting practice, encompassing a wide range of Asian and Western cutting techniques.

After the cutting exercises, a one-hour cooking session transformed the cut vegetables into a delicious meal with everybody's collaboration. It was an excellent chance to showcase teamwork and communication skills and boost morale.

Drinks were served, two different Asian salads were prepared, and members learned to make potstickers from frozen dumplings in small groups. The highlight was the preparation of spicy Thai salmon sashimi, which went fabulously well with the Chenin blanc served.

As the cooking progressed, the table was filled with scrumptious food prepared collectively. The last hour was a feast, with everyone enjoying the food and having a great time.

Finally, Tracy presented a gift hamper filled with our best-selling goodies and delivered the closing speech. Long after the session concluded, people continued to linger, chatting about what a pleasant surprise it had been and expressing their appreciation to us and Tracy.
